As a software architect and engineering lead, Neil is a champion of pushing technology boundaries at Base2. Neil’s customers frequently comment that his biggest strength is his ability to listen to their pains and then craft effective solutions that resolve their challenge in a cost-effective way. Having been involved in all aspects of software implementation–from envisioning and requirements, to architecture and development, and as a technical program manager–Neil is very skilled at identifying risks and problems early in a project, and through frequent dialogue with his teammates and customer, finding a path to success. His background in aerospace engineering and PE in acoustical engineering give Neil the chops to tackle his customers deepest technical challenges. He is a leader by example, with a strong passion for excellence and doing the job right the first time.
Neil prides himself on being first and foremost a consultant charged with ensuring that each customer is getting the most value from him, his team, and from Base2. He believes people are happiest when they are doing what they like, so he works hard to make sure his teams are having fun and working on compelling projects.
Passion around sound and music initially led Neil into a career in acoustics, designing theaters and audio systems. Continuing further down the path of designing and analyzing larger and more systems led him into the field of software engineering. He has a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Boston University, a Certificate in Software Engineering from UW, and holds a Professional Engineers License in Acoustics from Oregon.
Most of his spare time is spent with his family and kids, traveling, and enjoying all forms and genres of jazz, classical and more modern music. An aspiring foodie, he loves to cook. And he loves movies–especially musicals.
